The Spaniard made only his second Premier League start on Saturday as Liverpool defeated Crystal Palace 4-2 at Selhurst Park.

Moreno stepped in for the ill James Milner, and while he put in a good display going forward - his defensive abilities were tested at times.

The 24-year-old proved his attacking prowess when he struck the post with a fierce shot in the first half, but Moreno came unstuck several times with Wilfried Zaha causing him problems down the wing.

Moreno came in for plenty of criticism throughout last season with some fans calling for him to be sold in the summer.

“There was never a doubt about Alberto,” Klopp told the club's website.

“He is a young player and needs to learn a lot of things. Sometimes he’s a little bit too passionate in defending. But he is still young and can learn things.
