Harry Kane believes he will stay at Tottenham despite Manchester United interest

The club are negotiating an extension to his current deal even though it does not expire until 2021 after he slipped down the club’s pay scale following the new high-earning arrivals in the summer.

Delays in reaching an agreement had led to speculation he could be off, with both Manchester United and AC Milan reported to be monitoring the situation.

But after scoring two late goals to snatch a 3-2 victory against West Ham on Saturday, Kane insisted there is nowhere else he would rather be.

“There’s not many better feelings than being at White Hart Lane and scoring in a London derby,” he said. “I’m happy at the club and want to be here for a long, long time.

“A lot of people are going to speculate about contracts. That’s going to happen – it shows I’m doing well, for one thing.

“We are in talks and I’m sure we will get something sorted. I’m not panicking and I’m not demanding anything as I’ve read in the paper. Hopefully we will have no issues – we have only just started talking about it. Get that down and get that wrapped up.

“In the meantime I’m fully concentrated on playing for Tottenham and winning for Tottenham and there are no doubts after Saturday that my mind is anywhere else.”

Furthermore, Kane, who has been associated with Tottenham since he was 11, is confident the club can match his own ambitions.

“We’ve got a great young team, new training ground, new stadium being built, great young manager,” he said. “The future is very bright.

“It’s important that we keep hold of all our players and keep building on this great team that we have. For us now it’s to start winning trophies and competitions – that’s the next step.”
