Phil Jones made only his second start of the season for Manchester United against Arsenal
The 24-year-old centre-back, who had spent 10 months on the sidelines with an ankle and then a knee injury, made just his second Premier League start of the campaign on Saturday.
He played the full 90 minutes of Manchester United’s 1-1 draw against Arsenal.
Mourinho publicly criticised Luke Shaw and Chris Smalling in the aftermath of their 3-1 win over Swansea earlier this month after they declared themselves unavailable for the clash.
But despite his rotten run of luck with injuries, Jones reckons it is good to have Mourinho fighting his corner.
Speaking about his relationship with the Portuguese tactician, Jones told the club’s official website: “Yeah definitely, it is nice for any player to hear the manager say nice things.
“He has been great for us since he has come in, he shows a lot of confidence in all of the players which is great.”
