But unfortunately for Danny Ings those goals have come for Liverpool's Under-23 side in the Premier League 2.
Rewind 12 months and the 24-year-old's stock was taking a meteoric rise.
Ings had just earned his first England senior cap in a 3-0 win over Lithuania and impressive cameos in a struggling Liverpool side under Brendan Rodgers had Reds fans excited about what was to come.
But, just as Ings arrived back on Melwood to the sight of new Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, he suffered a cruel blow that would keep him sidelined until the final day of last season.
Feels great to be back with the lads
Klopp has made no secret of his delight with the attitude and commitment that Ings has shown since fighting back from the knee injury that threatened to end his Liverpool career before it had even started.
Liverpool suddenly became an attractive proposition for footballers with Klopp at the helm and the summer window was a hive of activity for the Merseyside club.
Seven players arrived and 12 were shown the door permanently including strikers Mario Balotelli and Christian Benteke. But Ings remained.
Two goals in three pre-season friendlies suggested the former Burnley man had finally put his injury woe behind him and could reignite his Liverpool career.

But competition for places in Liverpool's attacking positions is now as fierce as ever.
Roberto Firmino has found his shooting boots this term; Sadio Mane has been a revelation since his summer arrival; Adam Lallana is a man reborn under Klopp and Philippe Coutinho seems to be improving every week.
How can a player on the periphery of the first team squad expect to break into a side that smashed a 121-year-old record by scoring 24 goals in their opening eight competitive games?
Ings could bide his time and wait for an injury crisis - or force his manager's hand.
Good fun today
And at the moment Ings is knocking on the door furiously with his form for Liverpool's Under-23 side.
A hat-trick in Sunday night's Premier League Cup match against Ipswich followed on from a brace against Sunderland and single efforts against Southampton and Leicester.
If Klopp is honest and true when talking about his hatred of drafting in big-money signings, preferring to develop young talented players at the club, then surely it is only a matter of time before Ings is given another go.
Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi are yet to find the net in the Premier League this season but their shortcomings have been overshadowed by the attacking force around them.
There will be matches this season when the likes of Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino and Mane are not in sync and when that day comes a player with Ings' scoring instinct could be the difference between a top-four place and a title challenge.
