Manchester United star Marcus Rashford will lead England's attack against Malta next week
Caretaker boss Gareth Southgate – who names his squad tomorrow – is expected to give Manchester United’s whizz-kid the first-choice nod ahead of hopefuls like Jamie Vardy, Daniel Sturridge, and Watford’s Troy Deeney.
Rashford, who has already scored four goals for United this season, became the favourite to fill in for the injured Kane after a ringing endorsement from Jose Mourinho.
And the 18-year-old will have the backing of United team-mate Wayne Rooney who is also expected to retain his England place.
Rashford will return to his natural centre-forward position despite Mourinho using him on the wing.
The youngster is expected to feature when United face Stoke at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
