Bailly was making his first start in almost two months after damaging ligaments in his right knee in the 4-0 defeat to Chelsea on October 23.

United boss Jose Mourinho confirmed after the Selhurst Park clash that Bailly's injury was to his left knee but was unsure about the severity of the problem.

However, the Ivory Coast and former Villarreal player took to Instagram on Thursday to update fans about his condition.

"Happy to announce that my injury isn't too serious. Hope to be able to help my team again soon! Thank you for the support!" posted Bailly along with a smiling selfie.

The 22-year-old has been a huge success since joining United in the summer from Villarreal for a fee of £30m, immediately establishing himself as Mourinho's first-choice centre-half.

Bailly showed his versatility against Palace by filling in for the suspended Antonio Valencia at right-back before being replaced by Italian international Matteo Darmian.

In recent weeks, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo have forged a steady partnership at the heart of United's defence with Bailly and Chris Smalling both out injured.
