And according to the Daily Mirror, the Gunners have offered Sanchez a £50,000-a-week rise, however it is much less than he would have been hoping for.

The report suggests Sanchez is also none the wiser about Arsene Wenger’s future.

Wenger’s current contract expires at the end of the season.

However, should the Gunners mount a serious title challenge, Wenger could stay on.

Sanchez, meanwhile, was thought to be demanding well in excess of £200,000 a week.

The 27-year-old has been in blistering form this season, netting 12 Premier League goals.

Club official David Miles was positive about Sanchez’s future when questioned about it following the Champions League draw on Monday.

He said: “Of course, we know talks are ongoing with certain players and certain contracts.

“At the moment, things are looking pretty good in that way."
