Raise a glass to Be'er Sheva

Hapoel Be'er Sheva look worth backing at home to Southampton in the Europa League on Thursday, says Andy Schooler.

Recommended bet:

2pts Hapoel Be'er Sheva to beat Southampton (draw no bet)

Hapoel Be'er Sheva have yet to lose in their Turner Stadium since moving there at the start of last season and look worth siding with against Southampton in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Israelis gave Celtic an almighty scare there back in August when they came up a goal short over two legs, winning the second leg 2-0 when they needed three due to a late collapse in Glasgow.

Since then they've dropped down into this competition but started their group-stage campaign with the big upset of matchday one, winning 2-0 away to Inter Milan.

It was no fluke either and the winning margin could easily have been wider after numerous chances were created in the San Siro.

It bodes well as they head back to their fortress in the desert but they are rated considerable outsiders for the game.

That's largely due to Southampton's recent upturn in fortunes.

They impressed as they beat Sparta Prague in their opening match of the pool and that 3-0 victory has sparked a run of four successive victories.

Charlie Austin has played a major part in that streak, scoring five times in the four games, and he's sure to have his backers at 2/1 in the anytime scorer market given his form.

However, Claude Puel has loved chopping and changing his team around and looks sure to do so again, meaning Austin could well get a rest ahead of Sunday's clash with Leicester.

Changing more than half the team on a regular basis may have brought results so far but it's not something I see happening on a long-term basis and it would not be a surprise to me to see them come up short in unfamiliar surroundings against a team which has talent in its ranks.

I'll admit I got it badly wrong when taking Saints on against Sparta but I'm not using that as an excuse to shy away from doing so again.

Hapoel look a decent bet in the draw-no-bet market at north of 5/4 and that looks the way to go.

I'd certainly rather get involved with that game than Manchester United's home clash with Ukrainians Zorya Luhansk.

The hosts are no bigger than 2/11 which means even in the sub-markets there are some very stingy-looking prices about.

Jose Mourinho looks set to play a much stronger team than he did in the Netherlands against Feyenoord in their previous Europa League match (one which was lost 1-0) and if they perform as they did against Leicester at the weekend, United really should have no problems here.

Anthony Martial is fit again and set to return to play a forward role wide of Zlatan Ibrahimovic but Wayne Rooney has had a back problem and may only make the bench again.

There are plenty of long prices about regarding the visitors and the 6/1 about Oleksandr Karavayev finding the net is one of the more tempting.

He's netted four times in nine games this season from his midfield role and if anyone is likely to pop up with a goal it looks to be him.

Away from the English sides, Celta Vigo look tempting at 8/11 at home to notoriously-poor travellers Panathinaikos.

The Spaniards have picked up after a poor start to the season which saw them lose their first three games. However, that can be put into context by the fact two of them came at the hands of Real and Atletico Madrid. They've since gone unbeaten in four, winning two.

Celta have some names familiar to British fans with the likes of Giuseppe Rossi, Iago Aspas and John Guidetti and with home advantage they should have too much for Pana.

The Greeks, who have drawn one and lost 12 of their previous 13 visits to Spain, opened with a 2-1 home defeat to Ajax, a result which leaves them already in trouble in the group.

The fact that they've failed to win any of their last 10 away games in group-stage European __football shows how they've failed to come to terms with life on the road.

Throw in their two suspensions picked up on matchday one - Mubarak Wakaso and Ivan Ivanov were both sent off against the Dutch - and you have plenty of reasons to feel they are up against it here.

As ever with this competition, it may pay to wait for confirmed team news before getting fully involved but Celta certainly look a possibility for those looking to build an acca.
