That is the verdict of former Liverpool striker Michael Owen.
Sanchez, who was on target in the 3-0 win over Chelsea last weekend, set up both of Theo Walcott’s goals in the 2-0 victory over Basle in the Champions League last night at the Emirates.
Although the Chilean has been deployed as a centre forward term, Owen reckons Arsene Wenger needs to go out and buy a ‘top-class striker’ to challenge for silverware.
“I like Sanchez - I think he is a better option than Walcott up front,” Owen told BT Sport.
“He’s more intelligent in his runs.
“But I think if Arsenal want to win the Premier League or Champions League, he’s not the answer.
Alexis Sanchez shows his frustration after missing a chance for Arsenal
“He’s better off on the left. He scores loads of goals coming in from a different position and Arsenal if they want to win those serious trophies, they need to get a top-class man right down the middle and leave Sanchez out wide.”
Arsenal resume domestic duties when they face Burnley next on Sunday (4.30pm).
