Goal frenzy delights punters

The high-scoring games at Celtic, Newcastle and Coventry gave three Sky Bet punters massive wins of over £25k on Wednesday night.

All three customers placed bets on 'both teams to score in both halves' on the same trio of games - Celtic v Manchester City, Newcastle v Norwich and Coventry v AFC Wimbledon.

The first obliged as early as the 55th minute as Man City salvaged a thrilling 3-3 draw at Parkhead while Newcastle started their comeback from 3-1 down in the 71st minute before running out dramatic 4-3 winners over their fellow promotion hopefuls in the Sky Bet Championship.

It looked like the bet was going to fall just short as Wimbledon led 2-1 at Coventry in stoppage-time, with the hosts' only goal being scored in the second minute of the game.

But up popped Andre Wright to seal his side a point, much to the delight of the three Sky Bet punters. Two of them placed a £5 bet to win £27.1k each while the other had a £10 bet to land £54.2k.

Meanwhile Atletico Madrid were trimmed for Champions League glory after they beat Bayern Munich 1-0.

Diego Simeone's men could even afford to miss a late penalty as they went top of Group D thanks to Yannick Ferreira Carrasco's 35th minute winner.

Atletico were cut to 12/1 by Sky Bet, with Bayern Munich drifting to 4/1.

Manchester City were nudged out to 10/1 after their draw in Celtic while Arsenal had a much more comfortable night with a routine 2-0 win over Basel thanks to a Theo Walcott brace.

Arsene Wenger's team remain are 28/1 chances for Champions League glory while Barcelona remain the 5/2 favourites for the trophy after they won away at Monchengladbach 2-1.

Paris St Germain were slightly trimmed to 18s after a 3-1 win at Ludogorets.
