The Manchester United defender’s future has been thrown into major doubt in the last 24 hours following Jose Mourinho’s public criticism of him.

But the Daily Mail claim the duo have held clear the air talks at the club’s training ground.

The report suggests Shaw requested a meeting with the Portuguese boss this morning after Mourinho admitted he needed to see more from him before letting him play.

Shaw has played just twice in the last four months after falling down the pecking order.

But the Daily Mail claim their talks went well and Shaw is now likely to be included in the match day squad for Everton’s visit.

Mourinho appears to have had a change of heart after leaving Shaw out of the squad completely in their 0-0 draw with West Brom on Saturday despite a number of injuries to the squad.

While he may be back in the 54-year-old’s good books for now, Shaw's future remains uncertain.

Shaw is under contract with the Red Devils until the end of the next season but he may seek a fresh start elsewhere in the summer if clubs come knocking.

United are thought to be willing to listen to offers but they will look to recoup most of the £27million they paid for his services when they signed him from Southampton in 2014.
