After an injury-hit start to his City careeer following a £37m move from Schalke, the 21-year-old German winger suddenly found his form in mi-December – and has not looked back.
Sane struck his ninth goal in his last 17 starts at Southampton on Saturday to celebrate being short-listed for the young player of the year award by his fellow professionals.
And he has praised boss Guardiola’s detailed eye for getting him up to speed for the English game.
“He has made me a more complete player,” he said. “Sometimes I have to play in the middle, against some teams, although mostly I play wide.
“He has made me look more at the details, to keep the ball better, to be more aggressive in my action when I get the ball.”
Sane has thrived on the service provided by midfield playmakers David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne who can spot his pacy runs - the two of them combined superbly to set up his latest strike in the 3-0 win at Southampton on Saturday.

He added: “I am happy to play with players like David and Kevin De because they know how I play and what my movements are – they know exactly how to play the ball.

Sane is relishing Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal more than most. His first City goal came against the Gunners at the Etihad in December and gave his career lift off. And he also scored in the 2-2 draw at the Emirates earlier this month.
