Sol Campbell has claimed Arsene Wenger will be signing a new Arsenal contract

Arsene Wenger is out of contract in the summer and has refused to reveal whether or not he will be staying at Arsenal next season.

The Frenchman admitted last month he has reached a decision on his future but has so far remained tight-lipped about it.

"I know what I will do so you will know very soon. You will see," Wenger said after the Gunners' 3-1 defeat to West Brom.

However, Arsenal ambassador Sol Campbell appears to have jumped the gun and revealed the 67-year-old will be at the Emirates next season.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has come under immense pressure in recent weeks

Campbell has been sent to Australia on behalf of the club to drum up support for Arsenal's pre-season tour Down Under.

The Gunners will play Sydney FC and Western Sydney in July in preparation for the 2017/18 season.

And while appearing on SBS News, the ex-defender told journalist John Baldock that Wenger will be in charge for the tour.

Baldock tweeted a picture of himself and Campbell with the caption: "Campbell tells SBS News Wenger will be in charge for the tour of Australia in July."

The claims will not sit well with a large number of Arsenal supporters who have been calling for Wenger to go at the end of the season.

Fans have staged numerous protests against the Frenchman and 'Wenger out' banners have become commonplace at both home and away games in recent weeks.

But despite the animosity shown towards him, Wenger claimed after last weekend's 2-2 with Manchester City he will always remain loyal to the club.

“I am not aware of what happens outside [the stadium]," he said.
