Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe has not been the subject of a £72m bid from Manchester United, according to Sky sources.

Reports in Italy on Tuesday suggested the Ligue 1 club had turned down the mammoth bid from United for the 18-year-old, but Sky sources understand this is not the case, with no such bid having been offered.

How Monaco have done it again

Monaco are back in the Champions League semi-finals. How does this team compare to the one that made the final four in 2004?

Mbappe has notched 24 goals for Monaco in all competitions this season, including five goals from seven Champions League appearances.

Leonardo Jardim's side face Serie A champions Juventus on Wednesday at the Stade Louis II in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final, first leg.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger recently admitted an interest in signing the teenage forward this summer, but feared the Gunners would be priced out of any potential transfer.

"Obviously it would be hypocritical and a lie to say that we are not looking at him," Wenger told French broadcaster SFR Sport.

"But he's already in the bracket of clubs who are, perhaps, much better financed than us."

Mbappe has been described as a "huge __football talent" who "has similarities to Thierry Henry" by Wenger, and is widely regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in world football.

Man Utd played for draw at Man City, says Frank Lampard

Man Utd played for a draw at the Etihad, says Frank Lampard

Frank Lampard insists Manchester United played for a draw at the Etihad against Manchester City on Thursday.

United earned a goalless draw at their Manchester rivals with a dogged display, though their task was made harder late on with Marouane Fellaini's sending off for a coming together of heads with Sergio Aguero.

Though United manager Jose Mourinho told Sky Sports after the game that they wanted to attack more, Lampard insisted the Portuguese boss did not want to go toe-to-toe with City.

Lampard said in the Sky Sports studios: "I'm slightly surprised. We did feel that he was going to defend deep. They definitely played for that. They didn't overcommit players at any stage. I think Martial played like a left-back at times.

"I give real credit to the midfield - not to Fellaini for what happened at the end - Michael Carrick and Ander Herrera worked their socks off. The back four moved from side to side.

"When you look at the table, maybe you see why they played for it, as the top four is in their hands still.

"I don't think Mourinho wanted to go toe-to-toe with Manchester City tonight. He looked at the bigger picture. They got the result they wanted, and they're happy in the dressing room, for sure."

Jamie Carragher echoed Lampard's words, saying Mourinho nullified Pep Guardiola, something he has done on numerous occasions to big managers in recent years.

"He's come here to do a job. Since Mourinho came back to England for his second stint, he's had six 0-0s away from home against the top six. So there's nobody better than him at going there and getting the job done.

"You had Darmian and Valencia not too interested in getting involved in the play in attacking situations, and that's why United had such little possession, because they had so little options for a pass.

"Again, it's Mourinho nullifying a big manager in a big game, and it leaves their top four chances in their hands."

Former United defender Gary Neville says United are at step one of two when it comes to going away to top-six sides, and says he expects Mourinho's team to be winning these types of games 1-0 in a year's time.

"I think if I'm sat here in 12 months' time, the next stage [for United] is to go there and win these games. That seems to be a little bit further away.

"Jose would probably say they've failed in an attacking sense, because they didn't do what they wanted to do, and that is to hurt Manchester City on the counter attack."

Manchester United's Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo have ‘significant knee ligament damage’

Zlatan Ibrahimovic had to be taken off for Manchester United against Anderlecht

Manchester United say that both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo sustained “significant knee ligament damage” in the win over Anderlecht on Thursday.

Ibrahimovic had been expected to miss the remainder of the season, according to Sky sources, and such an injury would suggest Rojo's campaign is also over with just five weeks remaining in the season.

United did not give a specific timeline for recovery and said that both players will see specialists in the coming days.

Both players had to be taken off in United's 2-1 Europa League quarter final win over the Belgian side on Thursday, with Ibrahimovic's knee buckling as he landed awkwardly just before the end of normal time while Rojo was taken off on a stretcher after just 23 minutes.

A United statement said: "Detailed investigations on the injuries sustained by Marcos Rojo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic during Thursday's Europa League match have confirmed significant knee ligament damage in both players that requires specialist opinions over the coming days.

"Estimations of time to full recovery will only be possible once definitive treatment plans have been decided after these consultations."

Ibrahimovic, who has scored 28 goals for United this season, is out of contract in the summer and has yet to agree an extension to remain at the club for another year.

Arsenal transfer deal: Departure could see star make shock return Arsenal's £200m summer wish list

Ospina has struggled for game time since arriving from Nice after the 2014 World Cup.

The Colombia international has spent most of his time in north London behind Petr Cech in the pecking order.

And The Sun claim the 28-year-old is determined to force a move away from the Emirates in the summer.

However, his departure could see Szczesny return to Arsenal.

The Poland international was the club's first-choice goalkeeper before Arsene Wenger signed Cech from Chelsea in 2015.

He has spent the last two seasons on loan at Serie A giants Roma, helping them up to second in the league table.

Should Szczesny make clear his intentions to leave the Gunners permanently, then Wenger might promote third-choice Emiliano Martinez to be his back-up.

All three of Arsenal's senior goalkeepers face uncertain futures.

While Cech is the club's No1 for now, the 34-year-old has shown signs of waning this season.

As a result, the Gunners have been backed to make a move for Sunderland star Jordan Pickford.

Antonio Conte facing selection headache with latest Chelsea star struck by virus Chelsea and Tottenham fans react to Antonio Conte's mind games

The virus hit Antonio Conte’s squad in the days leading up to Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at Manchester United, and went some way to explaining their off colour performance at Old Trafford.

Spain full-back Marco Alonso, despite being named in the line up on Sunday, complained of feeling ill after the pre-match warm-up.

Chelsea’s medical staff assessed him and the wing-back was withdrawn from the team, with the leaders then losing to leave their advantage at the top off the Premier league trimmed to four points from Tottenham with six games still to play.

But several other players were also affected by the virus, which had set in towards the end of last week.

One theory is that the bug spread through the squad at a team bonding meal – one of several arranged by Conte over the season to strengthen the group – last Thursday.

Now centre back and captain Cahill has gone down with the bug – but he is expected to recover in time for Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final clash with Spurs at Wembley.

Dusan Tadic

Dusan Tadic is reportedly a target for Arsenal and Atletico Madrid

Dusan Tadic emerged as a target for Arsenal last month amid reports the Southampton man had a £13million release clause.

The Gunners are said to be tracking the Serbia international as a potential replacement for Mesut Ozil who is yet to agree a new deal with the club.

However, the north London side are not the only suitors for Tadic who has reportedly also attracted attention from Atletico Madrid.

The report says Tadic's versatility and ability to play anywhere across the front three has caught the eye of Diego Simeone.

However, Atletico are expecting a tough battle to sign the Serbian with Arsenal, Manchester City and Italian giants Napoli and Roma also showing interest.

Roma have reportedly entered the chase for the Saints man following the recommendation of their new sporting director Monchi.

The 48-year-old reportedly tried to sign Tadic during his time at Sevilla but lost out to Southampton.

The midfielder has made 38 appearances this season in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing eight assists.
